Amp install - Tuner module remote turn on pin?

Currently Adding an Amp to 2005 X5 with Nav, no DSP and no OEM amp
I have located the 16pin Tuner plug/wires on the tuner module under the tyre. I need would like to connect remote turn-on for the Amp.

I have searched the forum but there only seem to be references to people with OEM amp plugs which is not in my car (UK specs) so I guess I have to take my connections from the Tuner Module

ok I have located two wires per articles on the forum:-
pin 13 :- White
pin 16 :- white/purple
cable on pin 16 is thicker.

I tested both wires for current using one of those tester screwdrivers with a bulb and both wires come on with ignition keys in position I regardless of the monitor beign on/off

which of these two should i connect the remote amp turn-on to?

cheers

From my experience, its the white wire. It should be a smaller gauge wire, probably a 22 gauge wire.

I've never seen an X5 without an amp. I have an 04 3.0i with no dsp and no nav and it has a amp from the factory.

If your x5 does not have an amp indeed, then go with the white smaller gauge wire. You should be fine as the amp will turn on and off with your ignition switch. If you run into problems with a popping or clipping sound from the sub as you turn your vehicle off, add a relay to the remote wire.

The white wire on pin 13 is the remote antenna switch, it's ideal for an Amp as it goes on and off with the radio regardless of the ignition state.

US X5's all have amps, the European spec X5's don't have amps unless you have one of the audio upgrades like DSP.

But wouldn't that serve no purpose if you switched over to the CD Player or AUX signal? When you switch from radio to CD, the antenna receives no power since its not being used or required. SO his amp will turn off as soon as he switches to anything other than the radio/tuner, resulting in no sound out of his speakers.

By radio I mean the head unit, not just the actual 'radio' part. If the head unit is on, that line is live. I use that line to power my sub amp.

Correct

Euro X5's you have to option to get an amp from the factory. The plus side is you can get a 5 speed and cloth interior with a diesel haha
