01 x5 ipod-sirius equation

Hello, first post, long time e36/39 owner and now e53. Love the car, glad I made the purchase, now time to start the mods

I have an '01 3.0 non nav, non dsp, non obc, business cd version and want to do the ipod and add sirius as well. Production date is 11/00 I believe.

I have done a few hours of research here I think my general alternatives are as follows, I'm looking for comformation or other ideas to see if I got it right:

- DICE unit and sirius radio from EAS if I get a new business cd unit with the correct software. This gives me the best functionality with the radio displays/controls, etc....sound right? ...also the most expensive route and is really more than I want to throw at this mod...

- DICE unit and run a portable sirius unit (like the stilleto) through the aux port on the DICE. I understand I would not have the radio controls for the sirius piece, sound right? if I go this way which DICE unit is better to get, the radio interface or trunk? mainly looking to cut down what needs to be ripped apart....

- Just out of curiosity, can I connect the DICE unit to the business cd?

thanks for any thoughts in advance
Dave

The DICE kit will work perfectly with your current configuration - there's no need for a new radio. However, a new radio will be needed if you would like to integrate OEM Sirius instead of your portable unit with your X5.

Here's the kit you would need:

DICE - SILVERLINE iPod Integration Kit for X5 00-06 (Trunk Interface)

Simply plug your Stiletto into the DICE's AUX input and you're set.

Thanks Tom, another question

Thanks Tom, order is in for the Silverline

..on the Sirius, if I go the OEM route I would just need the radio unit from you guys(looks like item #274), is that correct? Keep in mind my production date is 12/00.

Also, I assume I would not need the stilleto if I buy radio from you guys

thanks for all your help(& quick response),

Dave

To go the OEM route - you will need the following pieces:

R40 BMW Radio Tuner "PlugPak"
http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...roducts_id=291

e39/e53 BMW Business CD Upgrade - iPod/AUX/Sirius compatible
http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...ducts_id=2 89

Sirius Satellite Radio - e53 X5
http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...roducts_id=274

If you already have the DICE kit on the way, a slave cable will be needed also if the Sirius option was not chosen.
