CD changer - NO DISCS problem

Hello

I have just bought a CD changer from an ebay and it is not working. When I switch to CD on the radio I get NO DISCS message. I have opened the CD changer unit to see what is going on. When I put magazine with CDs in the CD changer, the unit moves from first to the last CD slot in the magazine but it doesnt pull any of CDs out of the magazine. Is this normal behaviour for checking which CDs are in the magazine? Is it possible to fix the problem and how?

Thank you

Blaz

I had the the same problem and did a search in this forum. Here are some of the things I found out.

1) Could be a simple cleaning of the CD changer.
2) Optical lens not working. Buy a new CD changer
3) fuse problem located at the back of the CD changer

Good Luck !

I have allready opened the CD changer and the problem is that the part that should move CDs out of the magazine doesn't move. I can rotate the gear on the motor by hand and mechanicaly everything works just fine. I think the problem is in the el. motor. Is it possible to replace it?

Now all the motors work but whole system is functioning wery strange. When I put in the magazine, unit sometimes checks all the cds, sometimes only 2 and sometimes none. It can also happen that it stops checking cds in the the middle of pulling the cd out of the magazine. Any ideas? Is there an initial state(position) that CD unit has to be in before plugging it (I have changed this by rotating gears by hand)?
