Installing a Sirius adapter on a '03 X3 with NAV (non prewired)

Hello everyone,

I was looking around for some info about retrofitting a sirius receiver in an X3 with NAV system, but without any pre-wiring (just checked this with the dealer). I had a couple of questions and was wondering whether someone else managed to successfully install the adapter.

1. Am I correct in assuming the proper solution is the package sold on http://www.europeanautosource.com/product_info.php?cPath=67_126_129_133&products_id= 281

2. If yes, how hard it is as a DYI project?

3. How integrated is the solution? Will I have control over the sat radio from my dashboard/wheel and will I see the station/song info on the nav screen?

4. Anyone else in my situation, who managed to solve this, and care to share their experience?

5. Could I do XM rather than Sirius? (I have XM on the other car and would save a bit on the bundle subscription...not that it would matter with the looming merger).

Many thanks in advance for your input!

I was under the impression the X3 didn't come out until 2004, what is your production date?

This is a DYI project.

Fully integrated and will offer full steering wheel/radio control as well as text display.

Do you have Business CD or NAV? XM Direct will not work in a NAV environment, but BMW Sirius will work in both.

I'm sorry, I meant to say '05. It's a MY2005.

Great! So the link that I have posted in my original post is indeed the only thing I'd need to buy, yes?

I have NAV, with a MKIV in the trunk, that uses the "High" flavor of the navigation software. So, no XM for me, then.

Unfortunately, no - but the Sirius kit will work for your vehicle. This won't be a concern much longer when the companies finally make the merge.

Thank you so much for the info! I will order the kit this week, and post updates, in case there are other people in my situation.
