Swapping a TCU for a ULF
I had a query (http://www.x5world.com/bluetooth/518...ctivation.html) recently that concluded that I had a Telematic Control Unit (TCU) for my Bluetooth capabilities rather than a ULF and as such could not use Navcoder to activate Voice Recognition.
So I decided to swap the TCU for a ULF as I wanted Voice Recognition, the ability to pair to latest phones etc... Well, I've got my shiny new 13th generation ULF and have ripped the boot liner out and expected a simple plug-for-plug swap. However, the TCU seems to have a couple of additional antennae connections (see photos) one of which is in use - is that simply for the telematics and as such can be ignored if I'm only looking for purely telephone functionality? ![]() ![]() Should I simply connect the white connector and omit the other? ![]() I guess I could experiment... but it's just started raining here in London, and as I lack a large enough garage, I can await your guys' help! ![]() |

I think you can just leave the other! actually the white or purple is the antenna for btooth receiver, so you must connect that otherwise the ulf won't see the phone.
plus there is the big connetcor on the other side of the ulf that you must connect!!!! Quote:

That was exactly my situation, connect only the BT antenna and the LARGE connector, it should be fine.
Then you must "engage" Voice recognition with NavCoder. |
