I just installed a BTUM in my '05 X5 (just shy of the bluetooth/assist model). I took the chance that it would work with my phone and the good news is...... IT DID!!! I thought I would start a thread listing the phones that aren't listed as compatible, but worked anyway.

1. Samsung SCH-i760 Pocket PC - Windows Mobile 6.1 (Works like a champ. Downloaded my address book and dials from the wheel as expected. Sounds good to those at the other end too.)
2. iPhone 1st gen in 2002 X5
3. Samsung SPH-i325 (ACE) --WinMob 6.0
4. LG DARE (Verizon) -- MY 06
5. LG EnV 1st Gen -- MY 06
6. Moto Q9m
7. Moto V600

4. Moto Q9m WM 6.0 - 2004 X5 4.4 swapped Assist for 4th gen BT module back in 2004. Works perfectly including address book transfer
5. Moto V600 also worked with the snap-in adapter but I doubt anyone is using a V600 anymore
