Inspired by the great write-up by SuperGreg for the “Non Smoker Ash Tray Installation” I decided to buy the rest of the OEM non smoker pieces for the X5. They consist of the two rear door ashtrays as described below. The part numbers differ for different color interiors. I ordered the black ones for my black interior.
BMW Parts: P/N 51 16 8 249 091 in Black (fits either left or right) Description “Storing Partition, Door Trim Panel Rear List Price $12.50 Tools needed for installation: None Image 1 - Schematic from ETK – Shown as Item # 24 Image 2 - Original rear door ash tray view (left side) (Not being a smoker in the first place I popped out the metal piece that is typically used to extinguish cigarettes) Image 3 & 4 - Non-Smoker Tray view Notes: If you are not a smoker and want to do this simple mod here are a few pros and cons with the above setups.
