Idle Control Valve (ICV) 01 3.0 X5 with code P0505

All you need is screw driver, a torch wrench, and a socket size 10. The process takes about 15min. and it is very easy.

There are two screws (follow the blue arrows) on this box (mark with letter A), one is on the side and one is underneath. Disconnect the power clip (yellow arrow) and take these screws out and you will see the ICV hides behind the rubber band (mark with letter B)

Close up:

This is the box when you remove the first two screws:

Now you will see the thick rubber band (mark with letter B), a hose connected to the ICV hides behind the rubber band. There are two more screws and a nut (the blue arrows).

When you disconnect the hose you will one end of the ICV, disconnect the power clip at the back (yellow arrow) by squeeze the spring in and pull outward the clip.

Now take the whole ICV connected to the rubber band out, you need to pull it a little bit hard because anther end of the ICV is connected to another hose WITH NO CLAMP. Just wiggle it and pull out. Then you are done. Just reverse the process.

* If you don’t have enough space to work, you may need to remove the air hose connect from the air filter housing to the lower end of the engine.
