High OBC Retrofit

BMW has a kit (65 90 0 308 455) for retrofitting the high-On Board

Computer (OBC). It is valid for E39 and E53 vehicles. This is perfect for
those who want to retrofit the navigation system, the main reason the kit
was introduced, or just to have the advanced BC features.

The only thing in the kit is the wiring harness (61 12 0 306 722) and 20

cable ties (61 13 1 367 599). BMW will not sell the kit in the U.S. at this
time, but they did allow the the p/n for the wiring harness to be mastered,
meaning it should be orderable. As of yet no price is set is on the
part, but it should be available for order.

In addition to the harness, the high cluster and coolant level switch are

also required. Some diesel models will also require a new expansion tank. As
for the recalculated ZCS code, "On-board computer High" is an option in the
Retrofit path of DIS software, so any dealer can do the recoding.
