Correct. People who are "white" do not truly have white skin, and the term caucasian was first used to describe people who had the characteristics of "lightness" "beauty" and being "handsome".
I myself try to avoid saying "black" because nobody really has black skin, and I grew up with a negative connotation of the word. African-American is the term I usually end up using, but as weasel said, it doesn't really make sense either.
