A-ha, because the 4.8i engine is basically an ///M engine, and all M engines burn oil (if some of you didn't know the origins of the E70 4.8i motor). The engine used in the E70 4.8i, is bascially the same engine in the old M5 (not the current M5) and the Z8 and Z8 Alpina. The 3.0si E70 engine is not M derived at all.
