There may be some truth to this. I just got my car tinted with Huper Optiks (60 fronts/ 40 rear / 30 sunroof). It does a great job with heat rejection. But when I put my arm finger's length to the window, I can feel some heat that seems stored in window (not from the sunlight itself). But tinted the sunroof anyways because California is never that bad.

I did see the install. They just tilt the sunroof up and do each piece that way.

I actually wish I did the 30's on the rear too. The 40's on top of the BMW rear climate package tint still isn't very dark.
