With every freedom granted, each "minority" becomes just a little less special. I think the thing really bugging racial/sex related minorities is that nobody else cares.

I could give a crap if you had it tough growing up, people didn't like you, or you weren't invited to the party. Name the reason, any reason, don't care. I'm sure there are 100 people behind "you" with a worse story.
